When God sent the prophets to His people, He spoke through them that He would eventually send a redeemer, a Holy One, who would bring them all back to Him and claim their debts as His own in order to make them fully presentable to God again. We see this promise illustrated beautifully through Ruth’s story. In fact, as you’re writing along this month, take time to read the book of Ruth and see how God showed a type of His redemption plan.
Redemption is more than just paying debts, claiming responsibility, or taking ownership. It’s about accepting and renewing. As Christians, we know that Jesus took on the sins of the whole world, becoming a one-time sacrifice for all. He accepted the debt and paid the price for those debts, renewing our spiritual ledgers. Our lives look vastly different because we have a redeemer.
