Welcome back, friends! We've spent a lot of time thinking on God’s primary love language this last month – we had decided it was obedience. And a full month of verses centering on God’s love for obedience has definitely backed that up! 💗 I hope you’ve benefited from February’s plan and have enjoyed pondering those passages.

{And 31 days for February?? Have we lost our minds??! 😂 No, we just wanted to modify our plans so that anyone can use them ANY month. 💗}

But I think the case could also be made for Quality Time to also be a big part of how God shows & feels love, don’t you? This month we’re transitioning into the theme of Abide – another way to say “quality time” in my book. 😉

In case you’re wondering... there IS a typo on Day 3 of the “God’s Love Language” (February) Scripture Writing Plan. It's supposed to be 1 Samuel 15, not 5.

Ugh 🤦🏻‍♀️ Typos are the WORST. They make us sad. Another reminder that nothing will be perfect until we get to Heaven. 😉 But we have updated the scripture plans on the blog in case you want to download the new version (or you can just make a notation on your printed copy).

February is the Month of Love. 💗 And I do love

February is the Month of Love. 💗 And I do love it all – the pink & red hearts, the delicious chocolates, the beautiful flowers…my sentimental heart always enjoys the big and small gestures of sweetness during this month. So, as a nod to that, we always have a Scripture writing theme for February that centers somehow on LOVE – which is a huge Biblical theme, of course – and we have lots of fun with the graphics. (#surprise!) This month’s theme is God’s Love Language – and if you haven’t run across the popular phrase “love language” before, well, it boils down to how one recognizes and receives love.

Of course we’ll talk much more about what “love language” means, its implications, and its high importance when applying it to God (the origin of love) in our current Glorify Bible study. If you haven’t joined yet, we would love if you just jumped right in there with us! I promise you won’t be behind – you can totally start with February. 💗

If you're like me, your heart has been hurting from all the recent events in this country...my thoughts have been scattered, too, and I haven't been able to write much yet. But I want to share this beautifully written post from a friend - I certainly cannot say it any better! ~Kristen

“I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.” Ephesians 4:1-3

I don’t know how many times I’ve read these verses before. Probably dozens. Yet, as is so often the case when studying my Bible, I noticed something in this reading that I have never noticed before. “Eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit…”

Eager. Not grudgingly. Not “if I have to.” Eager.

We have four children. We rarely ever tell them about something fun we are going to do until we are just about to do it. Nearly everything is a “surprise.” Why? Well for one, with four kids, plans change a lot, and we are trying to save them some disappointment. Two, we know that if we tell them, they will ask us a million questions about what we are doing and when we are leaving to do it. Why is that? Because they are eager. They are anxiously anticipating the fun things to come.

Kids may be the perfect personification of eagerness, but we adults can be pretty eager, too. I get eager for upcoming vacations, sweet treats, and, if I’m being honest, the kids’ bedtime. You know what I am not often eager about? Forgiving. Dealing with annoyances. Seeing people as what they could be with Jesus, rather than what they are with sin.

But Paul tells us to walk like someone worthy of being called a Christian. And how do we do that? Humility, gentleness, patience, and bearing with one another. Why? Because we are eager to maintain our unity.

When I disagree with someone politically, and my first thought is that they must be an idiot, I’m not being humble.

When I lash out, giving someone a piece of my mind, whether I am correct or not, I am not being gentle.
