“Glad tidings.” We see that phrase pretty often around the holidays, don’t we? It’s an old-fashioned way of saying “good news.” We’re familiar with the line from the Christmas song God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen, which mentions “tidings of comfort and joy.” And we know that the word “gospel” in the Bible also means “good news.” So now it’s all coming together! We’re going to be writing about this Very Good News every day in December on our new Glad Tidings plan. ❤️
This holiday month will be busy, as it always is, but I just want to encourage you (and myself) to finish the year strong. Amidst all the hustle & bustle of the decorating, shopping, cooking, wrapping, and giving, let’s remember what’s really important. Remember to make time in your schedule to focus on God’s very great love in sending Jesus and how His birth, death, & resurrection is our literal saving grace. The Glad Tidings scripture writing plan will also remind us to TELL others of this good news! ❤️ It’s such a great time of year to share the love of Christ – let’s not keep it to ourselves! Also, this last month of the year wraps up the Unshaken theme for 2025. I think it’s only a natural part of finding our joy & stability in Jesus that prompts us to share the good news further. ❤️ It’s kind of a full-circle moment.
PLAYLIST & PRAYER PROMPTS
You can find our free Glad Tidings Prayer Prompts here (scroll down to the curriculum section to download). (Did you know the prayer prompts for next year are already printed inside the new Behold Our God Scripture Writing Journals? They are also included in the online version, too: Behold Our God Scripture Writing Extras – you print out the whole workbook at home.)
You can also find December’s acapella playlist for Glad Tidings here for free on Spotify and for those of you who subscribe to Apple Music, you can find it there also. 🎶❤️ You’ll probably notice that our culture generally classifies a lot of these as “Christmas songs,” but if your congregation is anything like mine, we sometimes sing, “Joy to the World” in August or “It Came Upon a Midnight Clear” in May. 😉 (Which might actually be more accurate, because Jesus was possibly born in the spring or fall.) Whenever He was born, the point is – He was born! And furthermore – He died for us and was raised for us. ❤️ So let’s joyfully spread this good news!
2026 BEHOLD OUR GOD Scripture Writing
During this last month of the year, we’re looking ahead to 2026. Lord willing, we will start a new theme {Behold Our God} that almost seems like a continuation of Unshaken. 😍 In fact, as you write the passages this month, you may come across some that perfectly point to this new beginning. 😮 Which I assume must be a Holy Spirit thing because we didn’t even decide on the 2026 theme until this summer!
For those of you who are enjoying the podcast, we plan to continue the same format for the Behold Our God themes in 2026. We’ll wrap up Season 2 in December and then start Season 3 in January. 💕 You can find The Ruffled Mango Scripture Writing Podcast on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and The Light Network. (If you haven’t listened to November’s episodes yet, we changed it up a bit – Ashley and I did a ladies day this month and we recorded our lessons that we created for “A Season to Remember.”)
Also, FYI – we don’t usually do Black Friday/Small Business Saturday sales (we don’t want to run out of our new materials too early & not have time to restock before the new year) but you will notice several things on sale in the Etsy shop right now. Word to the wise…😉🎄
