This topic has been on our radar for some time, and we’re excited to finally explore it! This month’s Scripture writing plan focuses on the Names of God.
A name carries a lot of weight. It’s how we are known and identified. Hearing our own names can make us feel seen, valued, and respected. In the Bible, names often revealed something about a person’s character, purpose, or the circumstances surrounding their life.
In the same way, God reveals His character and purpose through His names. As we study together this month, we’ll be drawn into a fuller understanding of God’s nature. As our familiarity grows, so does our appreciation for all of God’s infinite attributes.
Looking to extend your study? This would be a great topic for Bible marking. You could also make a graphic organizer connecting the name of God to the events surrounding His use of the name.
A Note About the Format…
If you’ve been writing Scripture with us for a while, you might notice that this month’s plan has a slightly different look! For this plan, we’ve placed each name of God as a subheading, with the meaning and the number of times it’s used in Scripture. Under the subheading, we’ve listed the days with the corresponding verses.
It’s super easy to follow and gives you some added context as you’re writing the verse. I love that it includes the translation; it will help us explore the character of God more deeply. π
Extra Resource Page
We’re including an extra reference guide for this month’s Names of God theme. When you download the free scripture writing plan below, it will include this download as well. This second page will tell you how to pronounce each of the Hebrew names and it also includes more background information about the significance of each name.
NEW Scripture Writing Plans for Kids
A new addition for this year: monthly scripture writing plans for your children & grandchildren – or nieces/nephews…or even your Bible class students! Really, any child in your life you want to share them with. β€οΈ We’ll release these monthly as a free download inside the “Behold Our God Scripture Writing Extras” (you don’t have to be enrolled as a student) Just scroll down to the curriculum section to find the children’s versions for Names of God. (There are 2 versions – one which is black & white and one in color. Both have more child-friendly fonts and abbreviated passages to write.) Thanks for caring about the kiddos in your life and wanting to point them to the truth & beauty found in God’s Word!
Podcast & Playlist Updates, Etsy Finds + More!
The Ruffled Mango Scripture Writing Podcast is back up and running with our latest 2 episodes that correspond to January’s introductory theme of “Behold Our God.” ποΈ Go check it out! Be looking for Part 1 & Part 2 of the Names of God theme later in February. π We do our best to release those on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month (but sometimes life has gotten in the way lately – more info on that in Part 2 of the January podcast).
In other extracurricular news, you can find the new acapella playlist for this month for free on Spotify here – or right here if you have an Apple Music subscription. πΆ
We are currently out of the “Behold Our God Scripture Writing Journal” again, but more are being printed. They are currently delayed because of the large amount of snow & ice that West TN has gotten, but they should be restocked in our Etsy shop by mid-February. In the meantime, if you want the online version (that you can print at home!), be sure to check out the Behold Our God Scripture Writing Extras.
These Extras include a monthly theme introduction, the 12 scripture writing plans, plus monthly journaling questions (that we discuss on the podcast) AND – new this year – the monthly prayer prompts! You can print out the whole workbook at once, punch holes, and add to a three-ring binder. We do include a cover page; all you’ll need is some lined notebook paper or journal, favorite pens, and your Bible – and you’ll be all set. π As a BONUS, these online Extras include a monthly smartphone wallpaper that coordinates with the themes.

Until next time, lovelies. π ~Kelly

Thank you for the monthly scripture reading and writing plans. I share them with my special needs sister who loves to copy from her Bible.
I love that you have developed a kids friendly plan. Is it not available like the others or will I need to enroll in a study first. Thank you.
Hello, Cindy! Somehow I missed your message until now! So sorry! I’m so glad you and your sister enjoy these writing plans. π The kids’ plans are still free, but they are just housed on a different site than Dropbox. You don’t have to enroll in the course – we make them available for anyone to download. π
