God’s goodness isn’t exactly a secret, but it’s a topic we desperately need to explore and appreciate. That’s why we chose The Goodness of God as our scripture writing theme for February.
The goodness of God is not just a cute theme; it has a direct impact on how we view God, ourselves, and our salvation. If God is not good, then we have no hope of heaven. If God is not good, then why would we follow Him? His goodness is central to our love for God, our faith in God, and our obedience to God.
American journalist Mignon McLaughlin is credited with the quote, “A successful marriage involves falling in love many times–always with the same person.” As weak, fleshly beings, we are prone to drifting. God never changes, but we can and do. We must remind ourselves of God’s goodness to draw closer to Him and fall in love with Him all over again. We renew our passion for His cause when we remember how wonderful and good He truly is!
