See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are {1 John 3:1a}.
“What’s in a name?” Arguably the most famous quote from Shakespeare, this question appears in Romeo and Juliet. Although Juliet doesn’t see the importance of a name, the truth is quite different.
What’s in a name? Everything. That’s why we chose A New Name as our June Scripture Writing Plan theme.

A New Name: Why It Matters
As the church, God has called us. In fact, the Greek word for church is ekklēsia, which means, “the called out.” Our name matters because God gave it to us. It’s a sign that we belong to Him.
If any of you ladies have been through the adoption process, you know how important a name is. When a child is adopted into a family, that child receives the family name. Along with that comes all the benefits, blessings, duties, and responsibilities of that family.
As we write through God’s Word this month, we’ll encounter God naming man and sharing His name with man. We’ll see His plan for adopting us as fellow heirs with Christ and giving us a new name–His name.
