My azaleas bloomed this week. The flowers emerged quite suddenly, one day hiding demurely and the next bursting forth in a proud display. I take no credit for these beauties. Plants normally cower in fear when I approach, but those azaleas are the handiwork of God. And so, with plants blooming and green returning, we invite you to join us for May’s Scripture Writing Plan: True Beauty.

As women, we’re bombarded daily with new ways to “improve” our appearance. Make-up, hair dye, extensions, eyelash fillers, microblading, veneers, spray tans, nail treatments, plastic surgery, and more. For the right price, you could erase any and all natural parts of your appearance. Certainly, you can at least go broke trying.
But what is true beauty? Let’s look at what the Scriptures say:
“…let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God’s sight is very precious” {1 Peter 3:4}.
So our focus should be inward, on the hidden person of the heart.
Think for a moment of the women you know personally. Think of a woman who has a beautiful spirit. It might be your mom or grandmother, or some other woman who influenced you. What makes them a beautiful person? Is it their great skin? Their perfect teeth? Hair?
Or is it something else? Perhaps you see the love that woman extends to all around her. Maybe you saw how she supported her family. Perhaps you’ve seen her act with dignity in the face of suffering. Or maybe you like her sense of humor and how she’s always ready to laugh.
A Modest Spirit
Regardless of our outward appearance, God has made beauty attainable for each and every one of us. That’s why, in addition to our always free Scripture Writing Plan, we’ll also be offering our study on A Modest Spirit. This is one of our updated older studies. It comes with 4 lessons on modesty, including:
- Where Modesty Begins
- Setting Your Own Personal Guidelines for Modesty
- How to Talk to Your Daughters (and Sons) About Modesty
- A Modest Life
You’ll also get graphic goodies, some adorable printables, and a separate Scripture writing plan. You can sign up for that study here! Of course, don’t forget to visit our Etsy shop for the newest T-shirts, journals, and Bible study tools.
