Following Jesus is the most important journey we can ever take. But it does come with a cost. In Luke 14:25-33, Jesus provides insights into the demands and sacrifices involved in true discipleship. Jesus vividly illustrates the cost of discipleship, challenging us to examine our priorities and make a conscious decision to follow Him. This month we will explore what it means to count the cost of following Him.
Discipleship is not merely a casual decision; it requires an intentional and wholehearted commitment. A full surrender to Christ. Jesus uses strong language when He talks about hating family members and even our own lives. This is not a call to hostility but a powerful metaphor for prioritizing our relationship with Him above all – and everyone – else. Discipleship demands that we love Jesus first and foremost.
This month we’ve got an extra freebie for you! Not only can you find the Cost of Discipleship scripture writing plan as a free download in our Teachable school, but you can also download a special prayer prompt worksheet for this topic, too, while you’re over there! Yes, there’s a cost to following Jesus, but in this surrender, we find a beautiful life of meaningful devotion to Christ — a life that echoes the words of the apostle Paul, “I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me.” (Galatians 2:20a ESV).
P.S. The new 2025 Scripture Writing Calendar and the Unshaken Scripture Writing Journal (new format!) are a bit delayed in production, but we hope to have them ready to launch the second week of October! Be watching our Facebook & Instagram pages, our Etsy shop (where some Chosen journals & scripture cards are currently on sale for 20% off!) and the Unshaken tab at the top of the blog for more info. 💕
Good afternoon,
I have enjoyed doing the monthly scripture writing, I appreciated all the time and effort you put into these each month. I see that a prayer prompt sheet is included this month. I must be missing it somehow because I am unable to locate it. Could you please direct me to where it is, I have looked under the October scripture writing but did not see it. I greatly appreciate your assistancein locating it.
Thank you,
Hey, Tyann! To clarify, it’s with the scripture writing plan inside the Teachable course, not on Dropbox. It’s under October and the section is entitled “FREE Scripture Writing Plan & Prayer Prompts (and 75% off coupon!)” Hope that helps!
