October Scripture Writing Plan: Victorious

It’s officially fall, and with fall comes football. 🏈 That’s right, every week we park ourselves in front of the TV to watch our teams engage in battle. We collectively hold our breath as passes sail through the air. We hoop and holler as our players crash into opponents, taking them down. And each week, our moods are temporarily determined by whether our team prevails in victory or falls in defeat.

This weekly ritual is entertaining, for sure, but it can also be stressful. The outcome isn’t pre-determined. Upsets happen. Teams win that aren’t “supposed” to win. Players, coaches, and refs are just human, so they’re painfully fallible. In fact, there’s a common joke among disappointed fans that they want their team to be their pallbearers when they die so they can “let them down” one more time.

While football is fun, it’s trivial. Meaningless. It’s certainly nothing when compared with our spiritual battle. But unlike those games, the spiritual war being waged has a certain outcome. The winner has been determined, and there will be no last-minute surprises. Jesus reigns victorious, and His church will be in heaven with Him, singing praises to God forever and ever.

We look forward to that final victory in this month’s scripture writing plan: Victorious.

We’ve just wrapped up a month writing about Bold Faith, and a bold faith is a victorious one. Victory only comes in Christ, so we better make sure we’re on His team!
