As I write this, it’s currently 93°F, and it will be another three days before we get a respite from the heat… with a high of 89°F. Despite the recent temperatures, we’re feeling great because August is almost here! And that means we have a new Scripture Writing Plan: Water in the Word.
Why Water?
When we decided to do Scripture writing on Water in the Word, we knew that God had used water for many different purposes throughout Scripture. Nonetheless, we weren’t prepared for the flood (pun intended) of verses we found! It took a lot of editing to get the plan down to just 31 passages. We had 14 pages’ worth of Scripture references!
The Scriptures are clear. God uses water to serve His purpose. He used water to destroy the earth while also saving Noah and his family. He used water to save Moses and heal Naaman, and He used water to prove His power by separating the Red Sea and the Jordan River. Today, God uses water to add people to His church by emulating the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Our prayer is that this month’s Scripture writing provides you with clarity on God’s use of water. There is nothing magical or mystical about this life-giving liquid. The power is in the blood. The water is just the burial plot for the old, sinful self.
