Last year we bought a portable basketball goal for our daughter. We filled the base with water to make it stable and set it in the driveway. A few days later, it fell down. We picked it up and refilled the base, thinking it was a fluke. A day later, the goal was wobbly again! That’s when we realized there was a leak. No amount of water was going to solve the problem until that leak was fixed. When we trade Jesus for things of this world, we are choosing a leaky goal. No amount of effort or energy can fill the void that God was made to fill. Jeremiah told the people of Judah that they had forsaken the fountain of living waters for broken cisterns that hold no water. We thought this message was so powerful, that we decided to make it our scripture writing theme for May: Broken Cisterns.
This theme blends beautifully with April’s topic of Spiritual Maturity. Being mature means we must not seek after broken cisterns. Nothing in this earthly life can hold any water. The same money that went into your bank account goes out again. The meal you ate yesterday won’t sustain you tomorrow. The laundry you washed today will need to be washed again soon. The friends and family you love dearly will eventually pass away. Nothing else in this life will last, but God will.
That’s why drawing closer to God is so important! The good news? Our scripture writing plans are designed to help you do just that. Be sure to catch the latest episode of our Scripture Writing podcast. In addition to The Light Network, you can also find it on Apple Podcasts & Spotify. (Part 2 of Spiritual Maturity dropped TODAY 4/28; and be looking next Monday for a very special BONUS episode with our Faith & Flourish Collective members! 😍💕)

I have trouble printing the Scripture Writing Plan. I’m using an Apple computer. The Adobe Acrobat Reader DC will not let me print it, and when I click the print button, shows the page with all the options and whatnot at the top. I play around with the print option but get frustrated trying to print off just the page without all the other stuff at the top. Can you help me? I know I’m missing something and it should not be so hard! Thank you!
Hello, Mary! I wish I knew how to help you! I’ve never had this problem, so I don’t know what it looks like. Other than suggesting an update for your Adobe Acrobat Reader, I’m just not sure why that’s happening. Is there anyone tech-savvy who lives near you that can take a look?
Figured it out, finally! Thank you!
