A timid faith cowers in the face of danger. A pale faith blends in and takes the form of its surroundings, making it indistinguishable from the world. A bold faith confidently stands, not for the sake of standing out, but for the sake of Christ and the truth. Join us this month as we write about bold faith.
When Peter and John healed a lame beggar in Acts 3, the people saw what happened and ran to them. Peter took that opportunity to preach Jesus Christ. What did that get him? A trip to the council! Peter and John were arrested, and they made a defense the following day. As they preached, the religious leaders were astonished at their boldness. After all, these men didn’t have any letters after their names. They were common, uneducated men! The rulers threatened the apostles and let them go.
When Peter and John were released, they went to their friends and reported what had happened. Their friends prayed for them, but they didn’t pray for safety or for power. What did they pray for? Boldness.
In the face of threats, trials, insecurities, and the unknown, may we ever kneel before our Father and pray that we can continue to speak His word with all boldness.
